An expert in Internet Economy, Bertrand Lazare was one of the specialists chosen for the first meeting (that took place on the 24th June) of the workshop taking place at DIACT. For 15 years he accompanied big European businesses, international SMBs and start-ups through e-communication strategies, and founded two societies, Operaction, Indialley and the non-profit organisation Rhone Alley. He has now retraced his steps.
Centred around five thematic groups: Automobiles & Transport, Free software, Tools for the Design and Development of systems, Security and Defence and Telecommunication, the business cluster System@tic Paris-Region is a major player in the development of new technology, which some then go on to apply in a sustainable way. We had the chance to interview Sylvain Dorchner, director of System@tic and Eric Perrin Pelletier, President of the Telecommunication Division at System@tic.
Marie-France Barthet is in charge of business clusters at DIACT. A recent evaluation showed that sustainable development was an element that numerous business clusters were getting to grips with independently.
The Observatory of Digital Territories, OTeN, aims to encourage the digital development of territories through various complementary operations and studies which will eventually feed into a web site which will become a genuine documentation centre for the digital development of territories. Emmanuel Vandamme, delegate general of OTeN, is a highly considered commentator of territorial practices. He answers our questions, often going against the grain with his responses.

Jérôme Coutant is in charge of the digital development of territories at DIACT. Alongside his work, ACIDD works within the ‘Workshop for digital development and the sustainable development of territories’. This workshop consists of a series of meetings that take place between June to November 2008, drawn up with the support of the General Commissary for sustainable development at the Ministry of Environment, Energy, Sustainable Development and the Development of Territories. A number of experts have been consulted in the course of these meetings, and in this summer newsletter, you are invited to read interviews with some of these specialists that first came together in Paris, in June. Jérôme Coutant explains why DIACT instigated these workshops.
