The digital and sustainable development of territories – National conference –10 December 2008 – Paris
In the presence of Michèle PAPPALARDO, General commissioner of sustainable development at MEEDDAT (Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Territories Developement) and of Pierre DARTOUT, Inter-ministerial delegate for the development and competitiveness of territories (DIACT).
The risks that burden our environment are leading to profound changes in all aspects of people’s daily life (environment, mobility, activities, hobbies…) and changing relationships to territories (changes in scale of time and space.)
The new digital services offer credible, efficient and operational responses to the expressed needs in territories. Their deployment should also be the moment to incorporate sustainable development into the heart of territorial politics.
To respond to these objectives, ACIDD and DIACT, within the framework of the TIC21 programme, launched the project “Encounters for the digital and sustainable development of territories” in late June, with the support of the General Commissioner for Sustainable development.
They allowed ‘plans of action’ to be debated and articulated, the results of which will be organised in order of importance and presented, with the contribution of participants, during this conference, anchored on three main themes:
- What benefits can digital services bring to the sustainable development of territories? Methods for the transport, building and training sector, and consumer-producer relations
- How can we ease access to all digital services?
- How will the participation of the citizen with territorial government evolve in a digital, sustainable development orientated era?
The conference will bring together State representatives, representatives from European institutions, elected representatives, representatives from territories and businesses that are concerned with the exploitation of technology and science.
